Thompson comes to FirstBank, a subsidiary of FB Financial Corporation (NYSE: FBK), from First Tennessee Bank, where his 31-year career included working in the bond division of FTN Financial’s Institutional and Retail Sales division, and opening new offices in Nashville and Knoxville. Since 1999, he has managed FTB Advisors from Memphis.

“Having Tripp on our team to head up FirstBank Investment Partners will be a tremendous asset for us as we continue to grow our investment services,” said FirstBank President and CEO Chris Holmes. “He brings not only valuable experience to our investment operation, but also a deep firsthand knowledge of many of our markets.”

Thompson is taking over for veteran FirstBank Investment Partners President Bill Reid, who is retiring next year. Thompson will be based in FirstBank’s Memphis regional headquarters, which is moving to the new TraVure mixed-use development on Poplar Avenue in the East Memphis area.

FirstBank Investment Partners offers a variety of products and services, including retirement planning, wealth management, annuities, mutual funds, stocks and bonds, estate planning, college funding, and small-business financial planning.

“This is a great opportunity for me, and I am thrilled about joining such a successful company,” Thompson said. “You have to admire FirstBank for the way it does business across the state and its tremendous growth in the past several years. Getting to know their leadership team and the people in their organization, you understand why FirstBank is a special place to work and do business.”

Thompson, a Memphis native, is a 1985 graduate of the University of Memphis, where he earned his degree in marketing from the Fogelman School of Business.
