Oak Ridge City Council meeting rescheduled to March 19;
Work Session moved to March 26

Oak Ridge City Council will move its regularly scheduled March 11 meeting to the following week on Tuesday, March 19 at 6 p.m.

Due to multiple scheduling conflicts, the March 11 meeting had to be rescheduled. In order to accommodate this change, the Work Session that was scheduled for Tuesday, March 19, is postponed until Tuesday, March 26 at 6 p.m.

The meetings will still take place at the Oak Ridge Municipal Building’s City Council Chambers, also known as the Courtroom. Please note that the City Council meeting will begin at 6 p.m., not the normal 7 p.m. start time.

The meeting agenda will be published to oakridgetn.gov/agendas.

Upcoming UT Board of Trustees Meetings Announced

The University of Tennessee Board of Trustees will hold its winter meetings Feb. 29-March 1 in Warren-Wilson Hall, located on the University of Tennessee Southern campus (433 West Madison Street, Pulaski, Tennessee).

Meetings are scheduled as follows:

Thursday, Feb. 29
2 p.m. CST – Education, Research and Service Committee
4 p.m. CST – Audit and Compliance Committee (public session)
5 p.m. CST – Audit and Compliance Committee (nonpublic, executive session)

Friday, March 1
8 a.m. CST – Finance and Administration Committee
9:45 a.m. CST – Winter meeting of the Board of Trustees

The Knoxville City Council will hold a workshop on 2/15/2024 at 5:00pm in the Main Assembly Room of the City-County Building. The workshop will provide an overview of the City of Knoxville’s progress on developing levers to address Knoxville’s burgeoning need for housing. Presentations will include updates from several City departments and partners in this work. The media and public are welcome to attend.

KNOXVILLE – The  Education, Research and Service Committee and the Executive Committee of the University of Tennessee Board of Trustees will meet virtually on Jan. 26.  

Meetings are scheduled as follows:

• 9 a.m. EST – Executive Committee

Following the public session of the Executive Committee, the committee will convene a nonpublic, executive session pursuant to Tennessee Code Annotated §4-35-108.

On January 25, 2024 at 6:30 pm EST, the Knoxville City Council will host a Public Hearing to gather testimony about the public's experience with local services that address emergencies related to mental health, substance use, and homelessness. The public is invited to attend.

If you wish to speak during the Public Hearing, please contact the City Recorder at wjohnson@knoxvilletn.gov or 865-215-2075. The first twenty-five people registered to speak will be confirmed prior to the meeting.

**Due to inclement weather, the City Recorder's Office/City Council Office is closed today and possibly longer. If signing up by telephone, please leave a voicemail message stating your desire to sign-up for this public hearing. Please also provide your name and telephone number. We will confirm the list of speakers when the office reopens.**

Speakers will be allowed to speak for up to five minutes and are encouraged to address the following three questions that will help inform the Knoxville City Council:

• What is your experience with emergency services related to mental health, substance use, and homelessness in Knoxville?
• What aspects of these services need to be improved in Knoxville, and what opportunity do you see for additional services such as "alternative response"?
• What is your organization's capacity or interest in improving existing emergency services or future potential alternative response?
