Joe's Crab Shack brings seafood to the Smoky Mountains

By Jeaneane Payne

joe's crab shack seviervilleA new neighborhood seafood restaurant is opening in Sevierville, Tennessee this month. Joe's Crab Shack will be bringing surfside flavor to the Smoky Mountains.

Opening at 1605 Parkway in Sevierville, the restaurant will seat 284 guests and employee 140 people.

At Joe's Crab Shack, guests share seafood from steampots, while specialty drinks are served in a take home Joe's Mason jar. The restaurant will also offer gift items, clothing and other gear for sale. It's almost like a tourism destination in itself.

Manager Joe Kerr said "Joe's has always been a place where friends and families share memorable dining experiences."

The Sevierville location will open with a wide selection of craveable menu offerings. Included will be signature items such as Crab Nachos, Classic Steampot (Dungeness crab, sweet Snow crab, boiled shrimp, smoked sausage, fresh corn and potatoes), Salmon Orleans, and Bean Town Bake (two whole split lobsters, 1 pound of clams, shrimp, sausage, fresh corn and potatoes). Also on the menu are festive southern inspired cocktails.

Parents traveling to the Smoky Mountains with young children have a new tool to help them navigate healthy dining choices at restaurants, and it will direct them to a new kids' menu and registered dietician endorsed choices at Joe's Crab Shack. The restaurant also has a playground.

The National Restaurant Association and HealthyDiningfinder.com stated that Joe's Crab Shack is an inaugural leader in its Kids LiveWell program, a national initiative to provide parents with high-quality resources to find restaurants offering healthy kids' food choices.

Joe's Crab Shack is owned by the Houston-based Ignite Restaurant Group www.igniterestaurantgroup.com.

According to Ignite Restaurant Group's marketing director Kristen Temple. "We've totally repackaged the way we present our food choices for children with an emphasis on balance between lean protein, vegetables, grains, fruits and low-fat dairy, as well as stressing the importance of youth fitness activities and the availability of gluten-free options on our kids' menu."
