Merrill Lynch presents Swingin’ Christmas at Tennessee Theatre

The Knoxville Jazz Orchestra’s popular holiday event, Swingin’ Christmas will be held on Thursday, December 21st at 8 p.m. at the Tennessee Theatre. The featured performer for this event will be multi-talented instrumentalist/vocalist Wycliffe Gordon.

This is the hippest concert of the season featuring holiday favorites in the styles of Duke Ellington, Count Basie and more. Multi-talented instrumentalist/vocalist Wycliffe Gordon joins the band this year to help make your season bright. A veteran of the bands of Wynton Marsalis, Wycliffe has earned a reputation as one of the most dynamic brass players and entertaining performers in jazz and is guaranteed to put you in the holiday spirit!

The Knoxville Jazz Orchestra is a 17 piece big band comprised of professional musicians from across the region. Since its inception in 1999, the orchestra has performed dozens of concerts in East Tennessee, appeared on major jazz festivals in Europe, performed and recorded with internationally acclaimed guest artists, and released four critically acclaimed CD recordings.

This is the fifteenth annual Christmas program for the Knoxville Jazz Orchestra. The show, sponsored each year by Merrill Lynch, has quickly become one of the area’s most popular holiday events. Tickets are available online or by calling 656-4444.
