MARYVILLE, TN – Honoring those individuals and businesses that give their time and resources to make the community stronger is the purpose of the Blount Partnership’s Best of Blount Awards being held Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m., at the Clayton Center for the Arts on the Maryville College campus.

Nominations are open for the awards, so please submit the name of someone you think is deserving by logging on at www.blountchamber.com until Sept. 14.

The Best of Blount Awards, which focuses on the Blount County community rather than only on the business sector, celebrates those individuals and businesses that give their time and resources to make this area an outstanding place to live and work. The guest speaker is former University of Tennessee quarterback Peyton Manning.

"We are honored to have Peyton take time out of his schedule to visit with the Blount County area," said Bryan Daniels, Blount Partnership president/CEO. "So many people watched him lead the Tennessee Volunteers for four years and then followed his professional career. We think it will be a special evening with Peyton answering questions that our guests have always wanted to ask. It’s also puts a huge exclamation point on the awards portion of our program that honor the best businesses and entrepreneurs in our community.”

Last year's winners were: Tourism Award - Downtown Maryville Association; Bright Future Award - Patriot Threads; Large Business of the Year - CBBC Bank; Small Business of the Year - Lowe's Drugs & Home Health Care; Community Impact Award - Volunteer Action Civitan Club; First Responder Award - The late Maryville Police Officer Kenny Moats; Philanthropist of the Year - Randy Massey.
