Yay for Hogskin History Day!

WASHBURN, TN - The 19th Annual Hogskin History Day is only weeks away. Narrow Ridge is opening registration for vendors of original arts and crafts. And as always Narrow Ridge wants to hear from local folks on the history of the Hogskin Valley and surrounding area.

Do you have family memories, stories, songs or information about the history of the northern Grainger County? The event planners of Narrow Ridge’s 19th annual Hogskin History Day are looking for snippets of local history.

Neighbors are invited to bring their knowledge of our Hogskin Valley home and the surrounding area -- especially stories of how the local forests provided folks with food, shelter, livelihood, and recreation. All are invited to bring artifacts connected to the history of the Hogskin Valley and the surrounding area for display. Some stories may be selected to share from the performance stage. For more information on Hogskin History Day or to offer your information, please contact Mitzi Wood-Von Mizener at 865-497-3603.

Sponsored by 91.9 FM/WUOT and East TN PBS Hogskin History Day is a celebration of the history, music, and culture of the Hogskin Valley and surrounding Appalachian communities with a special focus this year on local forests. Guests will enjoy lots of good local food, door prizes, old-fashioned crafts, children’s games and entertainment as well as a chance to win up to $2000+.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, September 29th from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Narrow Ridge Earth Literacy Center, 1936 Liberty Hill Rd, Washburn, Tenn.

For more information about the event, you may visit narrowridge.org.
