Knoxville’s AC Entertainment earns industry recognition for music festivals
By Lauren Miller

Three AC Entertainment events have received nominations in the 30th annual Pollstar Awards honoring top achievers in the live entertainment industry.

Three music festivals produced or co-produced by Knoxville-based AC Entertainment made the list. In the category of “Music Festival (under 30,000 capacity),” Forecastle Festival in Louisville, Kentucky, and Moon River Music Festival in Chattanooga, Tennessee, received nominations.

For “Music Festival (over 30,000 capacity),” Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee, is in the running against such notable events as Coachella, Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits.

“It’s rewarding to receive this recognition from our industry peers,” AC Entertainment Founder and CEO Ashley Capps said. “It’s a testament to the vision and hard work of our team to have both the longevity of Forecastle and Bonnaroo, getting a repeat nomination, and have Moon River on the list as a first-year festival. That’s especially notable. This is an honor, and it reinforces what we hear from patrons about these unique and beloved events every year. And the fans are really what motivate us to keep doing what we do.”

Pollstar will announce the winners in these categories and others, such as “Best Major Tour of the Year,” “Best Rock Tour,” “Theatre of the Year” and “Best Outdoor Concert Venue,” at the conclusion of the 30th annual Pollstar Live! Conference, which runs Feb. 11-13 at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. The awards, presented by Live Nation, recognize the most successful artists, executives, venues, events and companies in the thriving global live entertainment business.

The Pollstar Award nominees are selected by a panel of more than 2,000 agents, managers, promoters, venue operators and professionals who work in the live entertainment industry.

In addition to these festivals, AC Entertainment also produces High Water Festival in Charleston, South Carolina. Set for April 13-14, 2019, High Water is a celebration of music, food and libations. The 2019 event is set for March 21-24, and tickets are on sale now at bigearsfestival.org.
