The first of the spring films in the Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers, 306 Hollywood, will be screened in the Harold and Jean Lambert Recital Hall on February 19 at 7 PM. Tickets are available at claytonartscenter.com or at the Box Office, 865-981-8590. General Admission tickets are $5 and Students are admitted free. There will be a Q&A after the screening with the filmmaker, Elan Bogarin.

When siblings Elan and Jonathan Bogarín lose their grandma, they face a profound question: When a loved one dies, what should we do with everything they left behind? Turning documentary on its head, the Bogaríns embark on a magical-realist journey that transforms Grandma’s cluttered New Jersey home into a visually exquisite ruin where tchotchkes become artifacts, and the siblings become archaeologists. With help from physicists, curators, and archivists, they excavate the extraordinary universe contained in a family home. 306 HOLLYWOOD transforms the dusty fragments of an unassuming life into an epic metaphor for the nature of memory, time, and history. The Bogarins applied their background in visual arts to present the documentary in what they call magical realism.

Eric Kohn of INDIEWIRE said “The movie’s blend of charm and philosophical inquiry makes it at once structurally daring and a total crowd pleaser, sure to find appreciative audiences who will see echoes of their own clutter-filled lives in its story.”

The Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers is a program of South Arts. Southern Circuit screenings are funded in part by a grant from South Arts in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. For more information, visit www.southarts.org.
