Friends of Music and the Arts is pleased to be able to present The Kingdom Choir in concert at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension on Thursday, October 17th, at 7:30 pm. The Kingdom Choir has embarked on its inaugural tour of the United States and FOMA feels privileged to be able to present these esteemed musicians in Knoxville.

A London-based ensemble, The Kingdom Choir first came to prominence in this country after singing Stand By Me for the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at Windsor Castle in May of 2018. Founded in 1994 by Karen Gibson (named the "Godmother of Gospel" by The Guardian), the choir draws from various Christian traditions and is dedicated to creating a sound that reflects the community they share through their warm energy and enthusiastic performances. The choir's rendition of Stand By Mewent straight to the top of the Billboard charts and they have released their first full-length album worldwide on Sony Music. Their success at the royal wedding has already seen them on several UK and American television outlets, including ABC's Good Morning America, CBS's This Morning, and NBC's Today Show.

On this tour The Kingdom Choir will consist of sixteen singers and two backline band musicians, all under the direction of Ms. Gibson. For its Knoxville appearance the choir will announce selections from its extensive repertoire from the stage.

Tickets for this concert, part of FOMA 's 2019-2020 season, are $30 and are available in advance either online (knoxvilleascension.org/boxoffice) or by telephone (865/588-0589). Tickets will also be available at the door, space permitting. Ascension's nave is open seating; doors will open at 6:30 pm.

Church of the Ascension is located at 800 Northshore Drive, Knoxville. All are cordially invited.
