Not Computer Literate? Here's Your Chance

By Jeaneane Payne

If you're ready to gain some computer knowledge, your chance has just arrived. Now you can learn basic Windows skills and even discover how to do an Excel spreadsheet.

Knox County Public Library is offering free computer workshops at its Lawson McGhee and Burlington Branch libraries.

Other things you will learn is how to get the most out of the library's vast online resources. A general Tech Help Session will also be offered which will provide an opportunity for people with basic computer knowledge to ask questions about apps, home electronics, specific consumer gadgets, and related technology.

"In today's high-tech economy, having basic computer skills is key to a successful job search," Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett said. "These workshops provide an important service to those who cannot afford computers and internet access in their own homes."
