Knox ivi Offers Sharp Contrast to Traditional Media

By Jeaneane Payne

Now in its second year of production, one of Knoxville's most modern-day forms of media, Knox ivi, offers a sharp contrast to traditional media. This Internet video broadcast network features local programming in a method that brings its audience and presenters in a more personable way.

The overall programming connects the people of Knoxville and East Tennessee through high-definition video technology, innovative production capabilities, and original programming.

Knox ivi's popular flagship show, 11 O'Clock Rock, contains more than 300 hours of video, including The Scruffy Citizen hosted by Metro Pulse associate editor and author Jack Neely.

This Fall marks the second year of Knox ivi's partnership with Maryville College in broadcasting some of the college's athletics and special events.

Knox ivi offers a variety of channels on its web site, www.knoxivi.com, including business, education, entertainment, high schools, lifestyle, news, and sports. Live events are available for viewing in real time and are archived for later viewing. Live coverage of Central High School and West High School sporting events can be viewed on the web site while Blount Today News and Sports covers all the headlines of the week in Blount County and gives you the answers you want for the weekly Gridiron action from Blount County's four high schools.

Against the Grain is another production of Knox ivi. This is a show for young people who go against what is considered mainstream, are engaged in their communities, and who hunger for change. The show uses the performing arts and interviews to discuss issues that are prevalent to young people. It also inspires them to "Live, Dream, Achieve, and Inspire."

Knox ivi is not only informative, it is entertaining. For example, Mary's Kitchen and Garden Show is all about using fresh seasonal ingredients to make quick, easy, low cost recipes. In its current show, UT basketball player Torrell Harris demonstrates how to make fresh bread.

Knox ivi recently celebrated its 500th episode of 11 O'Clock Rock. "We're so proud of our show and what we've accomplished in two years," says Knoxivi business manager Brent Thompson, who co-hosts 11 O'Clock Rock with Lauren Lazarus weekdays at 11 a.m. "Our 500th episode will honor the milestone and show viewers what we have planned for the future."

In offering businesses, organizations, and entrepreneurs an opportunity to reach an extended audience, Knox ivi makes it much more cost-effective than traditional methods while providing measurable results. A plus for businesses is that associating with this new outreach method offers much greater longevity than through more traditional media.
