Need gardening calendars or recommendations on plant varieties for your property? Struggling with a pest or perhaps hoping to attract wildlife to your backyard? Turn to the experts at the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture through a new online resource, UTHort.com.
“UTHort.com is a website devoted to providing high-quality, research-based residential and consumer horticulture information to Tennesseans,” says Natalie Bumgarner, UT Extension plant specialist. “Horticulture is the science of growing plants for food, beauty and medicine, but growers need information on more than just plants to manage gardens, lawns and landscapes,” continues the expert.
At UTHort.com, viewers will find fact sheets and information on insect and weed management, shrubs and trees, turfgrass, soil management, and more. The site also includes a special section on native Tennessee trees and plants and extensive landscaping information.
“The information on the site was carefully curated by UT Extension agents and specialists to serve the needs of Tennesseans across 12 main topic areas,” says Bumgarner. “It’s really a one stop shop to help landscapers and gardeners grow in their knowledge of plants, soils, water use, and the geography and climate of Tennessee.”
Through its mission of research, teaching and extension, the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture touches lives and provides Real. Life. Solutions. ag.tennessee.edu.
