AMS Corporation President, CEO Dr. Hash Hashemian named IEEE Fellow



dr hash hashemianKNOXVILLE -- USA—AMS Corporation President and CEO Dr. Hash Hashemian has been elevated to the distinguished grade of Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for his exceptional leadership in developing technologies for nuclear reactor monitoring. The IEEE Grade of Fellow is conferred by the IEEE Board of Directors upon a person with an outstanding record of accomplishments. IEEE Fellow is the highest grade of membership and is recognized by the technical community as a prestigious honor and an important career achievement.

Dr. Hashemian is a recognized international expert and leader in the field of nuclear power plant instrumentation and control (I&C) testing and automated I&C maintenance. His outstanding achievements in the development and application of industry-leading I&C testing and analysis equipment, training, and services have been of significant value to the worldwide nuclear industry. In a career spanning more than 40 years in the nuclear power industry, Dr. Hashemian’s meritorious level of commitment, hard work, and dedication has been a paramount influence in ensuring the safe and cost-efficient operation of virtually every nuclear power plant in the United States, as well as many in Europe and Asia.

“I am truly humbled to receive this rare and very high honor,” said Dr. Hashemian. “IEEE is the world’s foremost technical professional organization for engineers. To become an IEEE Fellow is a distinct achievement I have strived for my entire career.”

Dr. Hashemian holds three doctorate degrees in engineering, including a Ph.D. in nuclear engineering, a Doctor of Engineering degree in electrical engineering, and a Ph.D. in computer engineering. He has worked for the nuclear, aerospace, and other industries, and U.S. government organizations such as the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Department of Energy, Air Force, Navy, and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. He is the author of three books on process instrumentation and maintenance in nuclear power plants, published between 2005 and 2015. Two of these books have been translated into Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Russian. In addition, he is the author or co-author of 20 U.S. patents and has written more than 300 technical papers, including 70 peer-reviewed journal and magazine articles, over 200 conference papers, 9 book chapters, and numerous reports, guideline documents, and standards for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the International Society of Automation (ISA), and the worldwide nuclear power industry.

Dr. Hashemian is a Fellow of the American Nuclear Society (ANS), a Fellow of ISA, a recently elected Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and a Fellow of the International Society of Engineering Asset Management (ISEAM). He has served as a keynote speaker, chairman, and co-chairman of numerous national and international conferences and committees and is an adjunct professor of nuclear engineering at the University of Tennessee.
