Senator Massey receives prestigious William V. Corr Award

KNOXVILLE - State Senator Becky Massey (R-Knoxville) has received a prestigious award for her work to improve the health of Tennesseans. The Tennessee Primary Care Association (TPCA) awarded Massey their 2018 William V. Massey received the award for her leadership and support of community-based health care and her work to ensure that Tennessee’s health care safety net remains strong. She carried an amendment to the state appropriations bill that resulted in an additional $1 million to help Tennesseans receive access to care.

“I am honored to receive this award,” said Senator Massey. “It is very important that Tennesseans have access to primary health care services in communities across our state. I look forward to continuing to work with patients, policy makers, and health care providers to improve health care for our citizens.”

Former recipients of the Corr award include former U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, former Surgeon General David Satcher and former House of Representatives Deputy Speaker Steve McDaniel (R-Lexington).

Corr organized and administered community health services in East Tennessee. He worked with state policy makers to analyze Tennessee law and its impact on the delivery of primary care. His work laid the foundation for future primary care policy.

The Tennessee Primary Care Association is a membership organization of more than 30 non-profit primary care clinic organizations operating nearly 200 clinic sites that provide high-quality, comprehensive care to individuals and families throughout the state.
