Seymour Volunteer Fire Department welcomes its newest addition

SEYMOUR, TN – Seymour Volunteer Fire Department (SVFD) is celebrating the arrival of its new Ford F-250 Emergency Medical Support Vehicle. The truck officially entered service June 7, 2018 at 7:30 p.m.

The purchase of this vehicle was possible due to the community’s support of the organizations semi-annual Boot Drive fundraiser. The donations collected during the past four Boot Drives has been saved and invested to bring SVFD to the point where the purchase of a new EMS vehicle was financially possible.

Fire Chief and Executive Administrator, John Linsenbigler says, “SVFD does not just fight fires. We responded to over 1,600 medical calls in 2017 and we only expect this number to increase. Boot drive funds are instrumental in helping us purchase equipment that is needed, but over and above what our annual budget provides.”

SVFD currently runs an average of five calls per day, and over 2,000 calls per year. The growth of homes, business, schools and traffic coming into the community predicts a continued increase in SVFD’s call volume for the future. To cover this increase in call volume, SVFD members recognized the need for an additional EMS vehicle and they worked to save money to make the purchase possible.

SVFD provides: emergency services (fire, EMS and rescue), smoke alarm installation and safety, public education, school fire safety, and special event stand-by.

“We appreciate the support we receive from residents and businesses within our tri-county community. Every donation we receive goes straight to work to help meet the emergency service needs of our community,” said Elaina DeLozier, Development Director. “It takes everyone working together and pulling our resources to make Seymour, South Knoxville and Blount County the best community it can possibly be. Although we hope you never need our services, you never know when it maybe you, your neighbors or your loved ones who are in need…. and don’t we all want to know that help is just a phone call away.”

If you would like to financially support SVFD you can make an online donation today. Thank you for your contributions and for your continued financial support of SVFD!

When you support SVFD you are helping yourself and your neighbors before a crisis. The money given to SVFD, through special events, or individual and business contributions ensures that we will be there when crisis strikes, and you need us the most providing fire, EMS, and rescue services to the community.
