Women's Soccer Works for 1-1 Tie with Sewanee
MARYVILLE, TN -- After 90 minutes and two overtime periods, Maryville College's Women's Soccer team tied the Tigers of Sewanee 1-1 on Saturday, September 10th.
Maryville fell behind 1-0 at the half to the Tigers. The Scot's lone goal came from Ashley Howarth with the assist going to Jordan Chase in the twilight of the second half. It was the Knoxville native's first goal of the year.
"It was disappointing to only be able to manage a tie. We played hard, but weren't able to overcome some critical mistakes and unfortunate luck at the tough place to play. We'll look to rebound against Tennessee Wesleyan on Wednesday," said assistant coach Jon Baker.
The tie brings the Scots to 1-0-2 on the year. Maryville will be back in action this Wednesday when they travel to Athens, Tennessee to take on the Bulldogs of Tennessee Wesleyan College at 3:00 pm.
