Chase, Howarth earn All-South Atlantic Soccer Honors

MARYVILLE -- Maryville College senior defender Jordan Chase and sophomore forward Ashley Howarth have been named to the 2011 NSCAA Women's Soccer NCAA Division III All-South-Atlantic Region team.

Chase, a Franklin, Tennessee native anchored a defense that posted 43 career shutouts collectively as her Scots went 56-18-6 during her stellar four-year career. Jordan was a three-time All-Great South Athletic Conference performer. This 2008 GSAC All-Freshman team member also earned three selections to the GSAC All-Academic Team. She was named a 2010 NSCAA All-Region Scholar as well as a two-time NSCAA All-Region standout. Chase is the daughter of Dawn and John Chase from Franklin, Tennessee.

Howarth, a second-year standout from Knoxville, Tennessee's Bearden High School, set the MC's freshman scoring mark with 21 goals in her first collegiate season. Her efforts helped her earn All-Great South accolades in her inaugural campaign. As a sophomore in 2011, Ashley poured in 13 goals and displayed her leadership in assisting in 12 additional goals. She has helped MC to a 25-9-4 mark in her first two seasons in the orange and garnet. In just two collegiate seasons Ashley has accumulated 84 points while earning a pair of All-Great South Athletic Conference honors. The NSCAA All-Region accolade is the second of her career. Ashley is the daughter of Todd and Patty Howarth.

"We are really proud that each of these young ladies have been recognized by our peer institutions and opposing coaches throughout the region," stated Head Coach Pepe Fernandez. "Each student-athlete honored here portrays the type of person we enjoy having within our program and we share in their success on and off the field."
