Maryville's Payne Fisher named GSAC Player of the Week for Men's Soccer
DECATUR, Ga.- The Great South Athletic Conferencehas announced the first weekly honor roll award winners for the 2011 fall season. Earning the first award of the year for men's soccer is Maryville College's Payne Fisher.
Fisher's steady play paved the way for Maryville to claim the Lynchburg College Tournament championship. En route to the championship, the Scots defeated regionally ranked Hampden-Sydney and the number two ranked team in the country, Lynchburg. This brings Maryville's season record to a perfect 4-0 allowing the Scots to earn a No.15 National Ranking by the NSCAA. For his outstanding play, the Columbia, Tennessee native was named tournament MVP.
