Maryville Lady Scots Defeat Wesleyan 9-0

MARYVILLE, TN -- The Scots struck early and often as they defeated Wesleyan College 9-0 on Monday afternoon in Macon, Georgia.

It didn't take long for the Scots to find the back of the net as Ashley Howarth found the twine from Lauren Ward. Phoebe Leo joined the scoring parade as she netted her first goal of the afternoon with the help of Mandy Seiler. Maryville's last goal of the first half was scored by Taylor Emerson.

Howarth would get her second goal of the game and the first for the Scots in the second half with the help of Hannah Rector. Maryville would make the score 5-0 when Leo scored her second goal of the game this one coming from Rector as well. The sixth goal would come from Alexis Franco. The Scots would add a seventh goal on a penalty kick by Abby Davis. Rector would find the back of the net from Caitlin Ramsey. Ramsey would assist on the Scots ninth and last tally while the goal went to Emerson.

Michelle Foulke earned her third shutout of the year as she improved her record to 6-2-2.

"It was good to be able to use a bunch of women today and have them play at a high level. We have a tough stretch of four games in seven days and getting the ladies some rest is key to our success during this difficult part of our schedule," said long time head coach Pepe Fernandez.

With the win Maryville improves to 7-2-2 on the year and 5-0 in GSAC play. The Scots will again be in action this Wednesday when they host the Berry College Vikings. Game time has been moved from a 4:30 pm start to a 7:00 pm start.
