Amendments to Knox County’s Comprehensive Land Use and Transportation Plan approved

KNOXVILLE - East Tennessee REALTORS® strongly supports the Comprehensive Land Use and Transportation Plan as proposed by Mayor Glenn Jacobs and approved unanimously by the Knoxville-Knox County Planning Commission.

The final version of the plan is the culmination of more than two years of extensive public input and technical guidance from subject matter experts – including eight utility districts, Tennessee Valley Authority, Knox County Schools and many others.

Recently, there have been multiple last-minute requests for substantial amendments that would undermine this public planning process and override the recommendations of planning and engineering professionals. If implemented, these amendments risk making development less predictable and more expensive – further exacerbating the housing shortage.

We strongly urge Knox County Commission to approve the plan in its current form with no substantial amendments.
