KNOXVILLE – River Valley Health, formerly Cherokee Health Systems, has opened its newest GetWellNow walk-in clinic in Knoxville’s Mechanicsville neighborhood, located at 601 College Street.

The 2,500-square-foot clinic features three behavioral health offices, five primary care exam rooms and an on-site laboratory. Recent renovations include repaving the parking lot to expand patient access and improve convenience.

Services include:

• Medical and behavioral health walk-in care
• Primary care for children 6 months and older for acute illnesses and minor injuries
• Annual check-ups for children ages 4 and older
• Behavioral health services for adults, including triage, crisis management, and pediatric referrals
• Alcohol and drug assessments: Mondays and Thursdays, 12:30–3:30 p.m.
• Psychiatric care: Fridays, 8 a.m.–12 p.m.

“We know sometimes people need to access care without an appointment, and in an accessible location. The new GetWellNow clinic in Mechanicsville is embedded in the community, with easy access on the bus line, and is available to our established patients as well as those who are new to our system. I remember visiting the original clinic over 20 years ago and feeling the strong sense of mission and community connection. We are so pleased and honored to bring back medical and behavioral care to a place with deep roots in the Mechanicsville neighborhood,” Dr. Parinda Khatri, CEO of River Valley Health, said.

True to its mission, River Valley Health provides care to all patients, regardless of ability to pay. Leaders anticipate serving thousands of patients annually at this new site.

“This is another great example of what can happen when we all work together,” said Mayor Indya Kincannon. “We are so happy to support River Valley Health and its newest GetWellNow clinic in Mechanicsville. This new clinic will help make sure that all Knoxvillians have access to quality healthcare.”

This building has a long legacy of serving Knoxville’s underserved. Originally launched as a nonprofit, faith-based health clinic by the Knoxville Leadership Foundation 20 years ago, it now continues that tradition through River Valley Health’s integrated medical and behavioral care model.

Since 1960, River Valley Health has been committed to ensuring Tennesseans receive access to effective, high-quality care. RVH is a Federally Qualified Health Center and Community Mental Health Center that serves almost 70,000 people annually. The services offered for children and adults include integrated medical, behavioral, optometry, dental, and pharmacy services. Most insurances, including Tenncare, Coverkids, and Medicare, are accepted, and discounts based on ability to pay are available for individuals without insurance.
