Fire damages an apartment at Tiffany Square Apartments. Image by KFD |
KNOXVILLE - Last night at 10:15 p.m., KCCD received a call reporting a possible apartment fire. A neighbor in the Tiffany Square Apartment complex reported seeing smoke and visible flames through the glass door of a neighboring unit. Upon arrival at 8044 Gleason Drive in West Knoxville, the KFD observed smoke emanating from the building. Fire crews quickly entered the affected apartment and were able to extinguish the fire within minutes, successfully preventing it from spreading to adjacent units.
The impacted unit sustained fire damage along with significant smoke and water damage from firefighting efforts. Fortunately, the other apartments appear to be unaffected by the incident. Sadly, one individual was home at the time and did not survive the fire. It appears that smoke alarms were not present in the unit, which may have contributed to the tragic outcome. There are no injuries reported among first responders.
KFD fire investigators remain on scene to determine the cause of the fire. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
