KNOX COUNTY, TN - During his Weekly Update, Mayor Glenn Jacobs talked about former Knox County Commissioner Diane Jordan, the Juvenile Service Center, Read City USA, and more.
Mayor Jacobs addresses the sad news of former Commissioner Diane Jordan’s passing.
“Jordan, the first Black woman to serve on Commission, was known for her trademark cowboy hats and her upbeat personality,” says Mayor Jacobs. “My condolences to her family."
The Mayor encourages residents to stomp back in time and participate in the first Read City challenge of 2026. Game boards can be picked up at any Knox County Library. More information can be found on their website.
In addition, Mayor Jacobs announces that, for the first time in three years, the Juvenile Service Center has been approved by the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services.
“This means we are operating in full compliance with state standards for a juvenile detention facility,” says Mayor Jacobs. “Thank you to the team at the Juvenile Service Center for all they work they have done to reach this milestone.” |
