KNOXVILLE - During his weekly update today, Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs talks about innovative library programs, early voting and America’s 250th Celebration at the Cove.

Mayor Jacobs recognizes two impressive Knox County Public Library programs that are making library services more accessible.

At the Burlington Branch Library, Branch Manager Julie Willen created Library for All, a program designed for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities that is drawing participants from across Knox County. The next program date is July 29, from 10 to 11 a.m.

Over at the South Knox Branch Library, Branch Manager Joy Morris developed a program called Signing Stories at the Library, where library staff read stories while interpreters from the Tennessee School for the Deaf translate the content into American Sign Language. Upcoming dates for this program are July 14, at 11:30 a.m. and July 21, at 11:30 a.m.

Mayor Jacobs reminds residents that early voting for the Knox County General Election and the State and Federal Primaries begin next Friday. More information on polling locations and hours can be found on the Election Commission website.

Mayor Jacobs also invites the community to join him this Saturday, July 11 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. out at the Cove at Concord Park as we continue to celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary. A variety of activities will take place throughout the day, concluding with fireworks. A full schedule of events can be found on the Visit Knoxville website.
