KNOXVILLE - Today at approximately 12:07 PM, the Knox County Communication District 911 received a call reporting a roof collapse at a residence at 704 S. Chestnut Street. Upon arrival, emergency crews determined that the roof itself had not collapsed. Instead, the sheetrock ceiling and insulation in the front room of the home had fallen.

At the time of the incident, two occupants were initially trapped but were quickly evacuated without serious injury. The home is occupied by five adults and four children. Following the incident, the occupants plan to begin cleanup immediately and will be able to remain in the residence.
One occupant sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for evaluation. Emergency crews concluded their response and were back in service by 12:50 PM.
Authorities continue to assess the cause of the ceiling collapse and recommend residents in the area ensure their homes are inspected if similar conditions exist.
