KNOXVILLE - During his Weekly Update, Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs provides an update on the progress being made at Hero’s Hill.
Operation Hero’s Hill reached a major milestone this week.
“It was a big week for Hero’s Hill as the tiny homes began to arrive onsite!” says Mayor Jacobs.
Once the homes are in place, crews will connect utilities, complete interior work, furnish the homes, and begin landscaping the site. Mayor Jacobs also notes that progress continues on the community center, which will include office space, a meeting room, a computer lab, fitness center, and laundry facilities.
“We expect to cut the ribbon in late August, and veterans who are currently homeless will start moving in shortly thereafter,” says Mayor Jacobs.
Mayor Jacobs also thanks everyone who has supported the project.
“Thank you to so many individuals and organizations who have made this project possible,” says Mayor Jacobs. “It just goes to show that Knox County really is the best place to live, work, and raise a family.”
Operation Hero’s Hill is a project that will create a community of tiny homes and supportive services for veterans experiencing homelessness. For more information on the project visit OperationHerosHill.com. |
