The West View Cemetery District, encompassing Longview Cemetery, Southern Chain Cemetery, and Crestview Cemetery, is not just a plot of land; it is a testament to the rich history and contributions of Black individuals in our community. Unfortunately, this heritage is now at risk, particularly as Longview Cemetery has succumbed to neglect and become an illegal dumping ground.

On March 14th, from 10 am to 12 pm, you are invited to join Keep Knoxville Beautiful for a vital community initiative: the *Saturday Spruce Up! This event, in partnership with Knox Heritage, aims to restore dignity and respect to Longview Cemetery—a site that holds so much meaning for the families and descendants of those buried there.

Every piece of trash you pick up, every flower you plant, and every hour you contribute will help revive an important part of our shared history. We have the power to reclaim this space, to honor those who came before us, and to ensure their stories are never forgotten.
