KNOXVILLE - During his Weekly Update today, Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs talked about graduating seniors, the Children’s Festival of Reading, the annual Tax Sale, and more.
Mayor Jacobs congratulates Knox County’s graduating high school seniors and recognizes the support of teachers, school staff, and parents.
“Finishing high school is a big accomplishment and sets the stage for your next phase of life,” says Mayor Jacobs. “Big thank you to teachers and school staff, and to all the parents out there, for helping another class walk across the stage.”
Mayor Jacobs also reflects on last weekend’s Children’s Festival of Reading, which had a record-breaking attendance for its 20th year and featured author Erin Falligant, whose book Wind Riders: The Search for the Scarlet Macaws was selected for this year’s One Book Read City program.
The Mayor reminds residents that the annual Tax Sale will take place on June 2, at the Grande Event Center on Clinton Highway. Doors will open at 8 a.m., and bidding will begin at 10 a.m. More than 200 parcels are expected to be included in the sale, which is anticipated to recover several hundred thousand dollars in unpaid property taxes. Additional information and pre-registration are available on the Knox County Trustee’s website.
