Inskip Park Pool to Get $261,526 Concrete Deck Upgrade

KNOXVILLE - The City of Knoxville’s popular 285,000-gallon pool at Inskip Park will receive new concrete decking next spring through a $261,526 improvement project.

City Council authorized Mayor Indya Kincannon to execute an agreement with Cagle Development to replace the pool’s existing wooden deck. The project will also include ADA accessibility improvements to the pool decks and shelter.

Cagle Development submitted the lowest and most responsive bid among five companies that proposed on the project.

The 12-acre Inskip Park includes a high dive, two low dives, a baby pool, three covered pavilions, a sand volleyball court, playgrounds, picnic tables, disc golf facilities, and tennis and pickleball courts.

The City has made several other recent investments in the park. Last year, it reimbursed the Legacy Parks Foundation $263,530 for acquiring a private parcel next to the tennis courts. The purchase expanded the park and improved its appearance. City Public Service crews demolished a vacant, dilapidated house on the property, which has since been converted into grassy open space.

In addition, the City and the Village at Inskip affordable housing community are jointly constructing sidewalks and a crosswalk with pedestrian-activated flashing lights on Bruhin Road. A Knoxville Area Transit bus stop is also scheduled for construction near the pool on Bruhin Road in early 2027.
