Tybee Island Pirate Fest: Three days of swashbuckling family-friendly fun, October 9-12

The Tybee Island Pirate Fest originally began in 2005, attracting pirate enthusiasts from across the country.

TYBEE ISLAND, GA – Tybee Island, Georgia, an island paradise located just 20 minutes east of historic Savannah, is set to host the 10th Annual Tybee Island Pirate Fest on October 9-12, 2014, bringing plenty of swashbuckling family-friendly fun. Every Columbus Day weekend, Tybee Island transforms into a lively pirate village, celebrating the colorful seafaring history of the Georgia coast.

The Tybee Pirate Fest will feature three days of live music and family-friendly activities at Tybee Island’s South Beach parking lot, located on Tybrisa Street. The festivities will kick off with the coronation at the King and Queen at the Buccaneer's Ball at The Crab Shack on Thursday, October 9. Additional highlights include The Pirate Victory Parade, Scallywags Costume Contest, Little Matey's Cove, Thieves Market, the Yuengling Pirate Pub with live music, and the addition of several new kids' activities such as a petting zoo and Ferris wheel.

Popular Savannah-based country music singer, guitarist and bandleader Chuck Courtenay and his band will perform on Friday, October 10, while Mother's Finest, a pioneering American funk rock band, will headline the festival on Saturday, October 11. Additional musical acts will include Liquid Ginger, one of the Southeast's premiere original rock bands.

The Tybee Island Pirate Fest originally began in 2005, attracting pirate enthusiasts from across the country. Organized by the Tybee South End Association of Bars and Restaurants, the Pirate Fest will showcase the best of Tybee Island, from award-winning restaurants to miles of sandy beaches.

Ticket prices are as follows:
Friday – $12 advance | $12 gate
Saturday – $15 advance | $15 gate
Weekend Pass – $22 advance | $25 gate
Children 12 and under - free

The Crab Shack
Enjoy an evening of dancing, frivolity and food! The Crab Shack hosts the kick off to the 10th Annual Pirate Fest, boasting costume contests, grub and grog as only The Crab Shack can provide and, of course, a bounty of pirates and wenches! This event is open to all pirates and wenches over the age of 18. New this year will be a treasure hunt and caricature artist.

6:30-8:30 p.m. - A Feast of Piratical Proportions
7:30 p.m. - Coronation of the 2012 King and Queen
9 p.m. - Costume Contest for Best Buccaneer & Best Wench
